Headline is baiting frustration. If you read the article, there’s no cause for a trial.
Police didn’t press charges because there’s no evidence of a crime outside of petty damage and leaving the scene. The owners care about getting paid, so that’s why there’s a settlement, but this is like if I drive into my neighbor’s mailbox and then drive away.
The article even says “there was no DUI charge,” like it was dropped, but there was no charge because no one saw the accident. Finding a license plate next to a broken fence isn’t evidence of DUI.
Lauer sucks, but this is tabloid stuff.
