  1. Holy shit we actually got a real comedy to win.

Hacks is genuinely the best comedy of the 2020s. It has been funny, heartfelt and the relationship between the two leads is one of the best dynamics in recent years.

  2. I just realized that a Max Original show is beating the HBO ones in the Emmys this year… which is pretty hilarious

Wow, I didn’t think it had a chance with The Bear as competition. Glad for the series and Jean’s win for best actress. Bring on season 4!

Tangential, but Jean Smart will probably win for every season similar to JLD for Veep—she’s obviously great, but everyone in that room ADORES her.

  5. SO surprised, but maybe should have seen it coming with the writing win. I really wouldn’t have minded a near Hacks sweep this season, S3 was its best yet. Jean/Hannah/Kaitlin fully deserved to sweep the female comedy acting categories at least.

I’ll moan and groan about all the acting wins but this was good enough for me. Good job, Emmys.

Damn, I’m shocked as I thought for sure The Bear was going to win despite not being a comedy.

  7. I enjoy The Bear but it’s a slap in the face to every other show in the comedy category to be submitted as one just because they know they wouldn’t win under drama. Hacks is fantastic and the win is well deserved

  8. I think a combination of the poor reception of S3 and the comedy backlash played a part. I feel like The Bear will not win a lot of awards next year, even if it’s in the comedy section.

Hacks is funny and that ending scene proves it has just as much pathology as The Bear, except it’s an actual comedy show instead of a drama changing categories so it can win.

I like Hacks and I’m glad an comedy won. Did anyone else start feeling like Ava should just stay away from Deborah?

  11. I don’t carry a ton of streaming services so there is a lot I have not seen, but I have had HBO and this season Hacks was just great and so well constructed from beginning to end.

  12. The Bear S2 is legitimately a great season of television but it’s interesting how its summer release likely carried it’s S1 to a win, and weakness of S3 probably kept S2 from winning this time. Glad Hacks got writing and comedy this time around but it’s weird Einbinder wasn’t carried along with it. I hope Abbott Elementary can capitalize on the chaos and come out with a great 4th season to win next year.

This show and Jean Smart really doing the Lords work and block The Bear from another bullshit sweep.

I still can’t believe it!!! The Bear won a bunch of Emmys earlier this year partially because its remarkable second season had been released and seen while voters were still judging its first season, so it seems fair that the show “underperformed” while nominated for its second season considering the lukewarm reception of the third season, which had already been released while voting was underway. But most of all, it’s great to see Hacks – a GREAT comedy that doesn’t follow the traditional joke-per-second-ratio of traditional sitcoms – to win the top prize, and for its very best season to date (season 3 was awesome)!!!!

FX can’t keep getting away with this. They submitted a limited series as a drama and a drama series as a comedy.
