It didnt suck. What issues I had with the plot, I can forgive because Bates is fantastic as always. I went in thinking it was a gender swapped remake of Matlock. Very happy to see thats not the case.
But yeah, worth a punt.

I judge reboots the first minute or so based on whether or not they also use the classic themes. They didn’t in this. Oh sure, I’m guessing a lot of you really don’t care that they don’t do intros or themes anymore, but this was my daytime tv when I was a sick kid, and I ALWAYS loved the classic Matlock theme. I just don’t get why studios that decide to reboot classic tv shows DELIBERATELY avoid using the classic themes these days. IS there some reason behind that…AND DON’T SAY LICENSING! The studios own the rights to the themes. There’s something else going on. So what is it? Why can’t we have intros and updated classic themes anymore?
