Ciara’s debut single “Goodies” was number one on this day in 2004. The song would become her only number one hit in the US.

Me, listening to this song on repeat on AOL Music back in the day as a 12 year old:

  2. This was on the CD they would play during gym class when we had to run laps around the gym for warmups. Some other “of the time” tracks included Work It by Missy Elliott, anything by Nelly, and obviously Get Low.

  3. I went to a very suburban middle school when this came out and for whatever reason she got hit with the same “she’s tall so she’s a man” rumor that people seemed to give everyone. Was this just my school or were we just real nasty about tall women?

I remember the same thing happened when Lady Gaga got famous too.

Ciara doesn’t get enough recognition for her dancing, she’s so effortless and talented!!

  5. This music video had ten year old me in an impenetrable chokehold. The song still ignites something feral in me lol.

  6. Man, I remember watching this music video with my cousins in my grandma‘s living room. I feel old as shit
