  1. I was hoping for 2025. And why would you not try to take advantage of Valentine’s Day/President’s Day weekend?

The drama will most likely have little to no effect. Far more high profile internet controversies have been proven to be completely meaningless offline, and the success of Wonka, Dune, Disney movies etc. has shown in particular I/P related boycott calls don’t effect actual BO. I think Williamson being so involved is giving this a lot of potential to be a strong entry.

For the person who replied and insta blocked; it’s ridiculous to say I don’t care about global conflicts. The point is the average moviegoer doesn’t know or care about BTS drama or the I/P views of people involved in movies. We’ve seen this countless times over the past year alone

That’s a 3 year gap of Scream 6 which came out on March 10, 2023

Which would also been over 30 years after the original Scream film from 1995 came out for their 30th anniversary along with Shrek 5 for their 25th anniversary of the original in 2001

I like Kevin Williamson’s writing but I haven’t seen him direct anything before. Is he any good?

  5. Before anyone brings it up, no one cares about who Melissa Barrera is, what she said and why she was fired. *Abigail* flopped. Her upcoming *Your Monster* will also flop. She will have back to back flops.

    Twitter activists aren’t ticket buyers.

Scream 7 will perform on its own merits like critical acclaim, audience reception, general audience interest, marketing, etc.

Why 2026? Isn’t it set to start production soon? Why such a long turnaround period?
I thought it was definitely gonna make 2025.

BO will be interesting to watch from that perspective. I agree that losing Melissa and Jenna won’t make the movie bomb. Up in the air if it’ll surpass 6’s BO.

But I expect online discussions to feature people who want the movie to fail because of the drama, contrarians who want the movie to succeed because of the people who want the movie to fail so they can stick it to them, and people who want the movie to succeed for the health of the BO.

  8. Controversy aside, I’m interested to see what they do with this. Gen Z really liked the actors in the last two, and now none of them are coming back. I love Neve Campbell, but is she really still a draw for this audience? We’re about to find out.
