Venom 3 is going to be the anti-twisters movie where the international split is heavy

To be fair, the Venom audience is a fairly casual audience. Might take them a while to remember to buy tickets.

    Still, not a great sign.

I’m worried about it’ll see another drop from Let There Be Carnage because of the Superhero Genre stuggling since last year where the audiences have given up on Superhero films except for good ones like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, Spider Man Across The Spider Verse and Deadpool and Wolverine

Hmmm. Seems like forecasts for annual 2024 domestic box office just keep sliding?

  5. If Venom 3 flops then there is NO chance Captain 4 or Thunderbolts are making any money at all

  6. Venom

    Joker

    TF One

    Megalopolis

Even The Wild Robot isn’t doing super great overseas and isn’t a lock to massively outgross TF1

Winter started in October in Hollywood.

Aren’t the Venom movies usually walk-up heavy?

I don’t remember people rushing out to buy tickets early for the first 2.

Itll improve as we approach release, but because “venom horse” is not a real hook and how battered the superhero genre was, I never quite got why some were predicting 100 million

  9. The problem Venom 3 has is there’s nothing for general audiences to get hyped about. No Spider-Man, Morbius and madame web were terrible, no carnage, bland trailer with basically Venom fighting space monsters. Knull is not really know to casual Venom watchers and we don’t even know if his character will be handled well in the movie. Venom 3 just looks like a worn out Sony sequel from the trailer.

Figured as much, given what happened last year with superhero films. I had a feeling the current market wouldn’t be kind to the Venom films.

  11. Not surprising there was zero notice that tickets were going on sale today plus the Venom movies aren’t really pre sale heavy anyways .

I still don’t think $100M+ OW is happening like some do tho, the past few years (and this week) have proven that unnecessary superhero sequels underperform. I think it’ll open around $65M which would be decent especially if the budget isn’t crazy

Some people have pointed out that Venom 2 was very backloaded. But as Charlie noted that film’s release date was bounced around a lot at the last minute due to COVID concerns regarding the box office at the time (lot of flops in late summer 2021), which affected ticket sales for a bit since it was going back and forth between September and October dates (and there were rumors that Sony was considering moving it to January before they settled on the beginning of October).

We’ll see how the next few weeks go for this one.

After a string of Marvel flops and even former billion dollar franchises like Marvels and Joker, if this ends up happening superhero movies are in big trouble.

Still, I have a good feeling this will be a hit. If not domestically then definitely internationally.

  14. The trailer had nothing in it.  They already used Carnage so I don’t know what’s left in the Venom pool of villains to get people excited.

  15. Pre-sales just started today. I think this is gonna be walk up heavy, similar to “Black Adam” and “Fast X”. Probably opens right in line with those movies ($67M).
