Same scores as Megalopolis lmao, can’t make this shit up

Even I though like Joker 2 overall, this whole situation makes me even more appreciative of Deadpool x Wolverine just giving people what they want and delivering on its batshit party premise.

  2. > While many knew this Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga combo would be challenged in the fact that it was a musical, **the fanboys full out rejected the sequel last night on PostTrak with a 1/2 star and 40% positive.** Holy guacamole, Batman. Did the Megalopolis cynics show up last night? Because that’s the same Thursday night grade (actually 45% positive) that the Francis Ford Coppola directed $120M dystopian epic received a week ago before inching up to one star on PostTrak. Or, wait, did PostTrak switch up the reports?: Lionsgate’s Helen Mirren movie White Bird received five stars last night! That feature take of R.J. Palacio’s novel, which is a sequel and prequel to Wonder, is only expected to make $2M this weekend on 1,018 theaters after a $275K Thursday night. Reviews for the movie stand at 72% on Rotten Tomatoes.

    > **A very low 24% say they’ll definitely recommend Joker 2 to their friends.** God knows what this means for Joker 2‘s stability throughout the weekend. RT audience score for Joker 2 is also in the gutter at 37% with critical reviews plummeting from 62% fresh to 39% Rotten.

This pretty much guarantees a sub 2x multiplier.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen THAT much rejection for not just a sequel, but for a film in general.

The 2024 box office keeps finding new ways to surprise everyone… The DC brand is so toxic right now, I honestly don’t know if James Gunn can fix it.

I don’t even know what was the last Hollywood big-budget blockbuster to be *this* poorly reviewed. Truly fascinating.

I never seen audience scores this bad for a mainstream blockbuster movie.

Film Twitter, Letterboxd, IMDB reviews, Rotten Tomatoes audience verified score, PostTrak….all just hating this movie.

I can’t imagine people aren’t canceling tickets they already bought for the weekend. Even, if you don’t follow this stuff you’ll probably see something on social media saying the Joker sucks.

Much like Alice in Wonderland or Captain Marvel before it, Joker was just a dated trend that everybody forgot about after a year. Yes, the WOM didn’t help but you think there would have at least been some initial interest in a sequel to a billion dollar multiple-Oscar winning film.

Do you know what the acronym for Folie a Deux is? **FAD**.

  8. Kinda unrelated, but I rewatched Kung Fu Panda 4 the other night, and I had very different feelings towards it as I did when it first premiered… 😬

But then, it got me thinking about something else: VINDICATION. 😲

You see, back in 2011, Hangover 2 beated Panda 2 (undeservingly so) by a landslide…

This year, Panda 4 got about $190M DOM.

If anything, Joker 2 would be very lucky to finish its domestic run with HALF of that number… 🤯😵‍💫😵

  9. Its actually getting worse audience reactions than Megalopolis. I dont see it getting to 100M domestically

Genuinely curious now if there’s a superhero movie with a lower PostTrak score (40% positive, below Megalopolis). Madame Web got 54%, The Flash got 60%.

  11. > last night on PostTrak with a 1/2 star and 40% positive

second lowest % positive score in my now out of data posttrak database (complete for all deadline anecdotes through part of 2023).

Slender Man (38%), turning (41), empty man (42%), separation (42%). The only lower “star” rating was a 0 star for the grudge (revised upwards to 0.5 by the end of the weekend). To be clear that’s **401st**/402 films with a posttrak “% positive” rating

  12. *Half a fucking star?* Holy *shit,* this is a disaster. Imagine if it can’t even hit #1…

Is it possible James gun Superman Legacy is in trouble? Truly I think I’ll do great but it has a lot of expectations and pressure now

For reference, Madame Web got a 1.5 on PostTrak while Morbius got 2.5.

    Morbheads and Webheads keep winning.

    That’s insane oh my god

Every time I think it’s hit rock bottom it keeps digging
