  1. There it is, folks. The absolute worst grade for a comic book film, finally dethroning *Fant4stic* (C–). Congrats?

    Compared to Todd Phillips’ films:

There were like 7 posts at the same time lol. Everyone was itching to see how bad it got. Surprised it didn’t get F

Look at the past few years of DC films:

    2020: Wonder Woman 1984

    2021: The Suicide Squad

    2022: The Batman, Black Adam

2023: Shazam 2, The Flash, Blue Beetle, Aquaman 2

    2024: Joker 2

A wide array of films and they all got poor reception, bombed, or (in most cases) both. The only one that did well was bulletproof Batman, DC’s equivalent of Spider-Man.

Superman will struggle to break even, Supergirl will be Blue Beetle 2.0 (if it’s lucky), and The Authority and all those others films they announced will be the first blockbusters in cinema history to make zero dollars on opening weekend. Let it die, or at least let it rest.

The scene where Arthur Fleck, Jack Black’s Claptrap & Adam Driver from Megalopolis covered Disco Duck really divided audiences, huh?

  5. Hoho this is BAD to put this in context Megalopolis got a D+ last week and the first Joker got a B+ and the Marvels which was undeniably a total wreck got a B and Fant4stic the previous record for lowest cinemascore for a CBM got a C- at least it’s not an F which looked like a real possibility all day long, but a D is just as bad.

Todd Phillips running away from Warner Bros’ hitmen after spending $200m on a sequel to a $1b movie only to be received with a cinemascore lower than Megalopolis.

  7. Damn! Lowest for CBM! Who would’ve thought WB/DC went from the first film back in 2019 being one of the best CBM to have this sequel becoming one of the worst CBM.

  8. A few days ago I speculated about it getting a C+… turns out that was being generous.

This has gotta be unprecedented for a blockbuster, right? I don’t think I’ve seen such a big movie be this thoroughly reviled.

  9. Lower than Borderlands, Megalopolis, Madame Web, The Marvels and Morbius. Imagine saying this to someone even a month ago

You’re laughing. Joker: Failure A Dud is getting slammed on Cinemascore and you’re laughing.

  11. Todd could have followed the formula of the first movie. They could have simply made Harley and Joker escape prison and terrorize the city and still keep some elements like the court and musical scenes.

But nooo, he had to make this a courtroom drama with that terrible ending for no reason other than pissing off fans.

  12. Box Office history in the making. The collapse of this film needs to be studied haha.

Green Lantern, Catwoman, BvS, Aquaman 2, and The Marvels got B’s. Shazam 2, Wonder Woman 1984, and Black Adam got B+’s. Fant4stic got a C-. Buckle up fellas…

And its officially the lowest rated DC/Marvel on Cinemascore…

You know that variety article that has been going around how studios are trying to be more superfan focus? I think its very interesting how that news dropped right as a film on the opposite end of that extreme released. Like it really seems like Todd unironically tried to piss and offend anyone who even remotely like the first Joker film.
