Cool (makes absolutely no sense though) , I’ll still boycott.
The actress playing Sabra (Shira Haas) was exempt from mandatory IDF (IOF) service and still chose to serve. That tells me all I need to know about her.

Isn’t her being Israeli her whole thing?

Unless they changed her name to “Susan” I don’t think they removed *all* references to her Israeli heritage.

I dont get this, honestly. People cant choose where they are born and people and characters shouldn’t be shunned for their place of birth.
But people can choose what they grow to be and people absolutely should be called out if they support a genocide , which is what Israel is doing right now.
Just make her a character who disagrees with the genocidal ideology , attempted and applied, on both sides in ME and dislikes the violence, if shes supposed to be a good character. Its not difficult to write a character feom a place of geopolitical complexity who disagrees with violence.

I don’t know much about Marvel and I thought the headline was talking about the hummus brand 🤦♀️

does that really matter now… ? since the character is still played by that same israeli actress (and former idf soldier). even if they’ve changed that character’s nationality , it still won’t change the fact they hired an actual israeli actress for the part.
just to clarify, the biggest issue isn’t this actress being from israel and ofc she didn’t choose to be born in that place, but she grew up and chose to support the genocide her people are committing against palestinians. i doubt marvel would’ve changed anything about the character if it hadn’t been for the backlash they were righfully getting.

All this reshoots and controversy for a character most people have never heard of. Hate that the first movie we get with Sam Wilson as Captain America is being saddled with all this mess smh.

The name being sabra is kind of like her name being “I am Israeli”

*deep sigh*
Sabra’s whole thing in the comics is that she’s *the* Israeli superhero and super Zionist but then gets moved by the Palestinian plight and then gets disillusioned by Israel and fights for the Palestinian cause. She was created decades ago. Recall that many comics creators at the time were Jewish.
