In a world where this film was well received and actually hit the high end of Box Office Pro’s prediction ($145M), then the worldwide opening would be on par with what the first film made.

Not even $100M. We would have crucified everyone here who would have made that estimation a few months ago.

  3. Well a bit stronger than predictions but still off from the first one which legged out during the entire October

  4. > The film played on 25,788 screens and in 76 overseas markets. Among the most notable results, “Joker: Folie à Deux” grossed $8 million in the U.K., $6.9 million in Germany, $5.6 million in Italy, $5.5 million in Mexico, and $5 million in France.

For better of for worse, Europe and Latin America loves what Todd is selling. Will that be enough to offset its domestic rejection, and thus minimize the damage? Probably not, but for DC’s sake, I sure hope so.

  5. T he weird thing about the first Joker is that it kind of under indexed domestically and made a whopping 700M overseas which is insane for a movie about a villain from a franchise that used to make less overseas than domestic. It even broke out in Japan.

  6. Italy and Germany to the rescue. Thats “better” that the earlier 70-70M but far cry from the 150M last one did

  7. That’s more than what this travesty of movie deserves.

Anyway, final sub 70 million domestic and probably 120/130 million overseas. There’s a chance this thing makes less than 200 million worldwide and that would be quite funnier than any joke. XD

I’m still laughing about everyone applauding when Joker told Harley to stop singing.

Welp, it looks like Europe is going to save this movie from being as big of a disaster as it could have been and grossing less than $200 million dollars worldwide.

Even with the enormous drop from the first Joker, this could have easily been moderately profitable if they kept their budgets in check. The Batman cost less to make.

How is it received by critic and audiences in Europe? Do they like it or is it a mass rejection like in the US?
