Three reasons: The decision to turn it into a musical, it pissed off fans of the first film, and the original film was lightning in a bottle.

  2. The “fvck you” from Todd Phillips was a big part but it also sounds subversive in a bad way and not entertaining.

Honestly, the movie may be terrible but it’s still strangely heartening to see a film like that get through the studio system. We haven’t seen anything like it since the subversive blockbuster heyday of the 90s with films like Batman Returns and Starship Troopers.

  4. Phillips seems to be annoyed he attracted a certain section of people with the first film’s success and thus spent a big budget sequel telling how much they suck and are losers, which…y’know is kind of a baller move. If I was given $200M, I’d probably tell incels and insecure men they suck as well

I’d also try and make a good movie while I’m at it.
