TAYLOR SWIFT THE ERAS TOUR opened last year this weekend. In August Swift announced the film, catching studios off guard & causing the release dates of several films that had been set for release on or near October 13 to be moved. The $15 million film grossed $267 million.

While this film’s box office performance was indeed impressive, some people were claiming that this will gross $1 billion worldwide and at least one person even predicted $2 billion.

This film was obviously succesful in its own terms but the outlandish predictions it had made it look disappointing. I do think it proved the audience for concert films is limited no matter how popular the artist is.
