  1. Given the numbers on this and The Apprentice, earning potential for movies about coked up egomaniacs in the 1970s may not be as anticipated.

  2. Saw a preview a couple weeks ago. For what it’s worth I thought it was pretty good. But it’s only going to play to people that are old enough to already know the players. If you’re too young know the original line up, a lot of it will be lost on you.

  3. I had a fun time, but there’s no audience for SNL nostalgia in 2024. Came about 15 years too late.

  4. I’m actually upset that this film isn’t slated to release in Uk/ Ireland until January 31st, among my most anticipated because I’m a huge SNL geek, suck a fuck Sony.

  5. That’s unfortunate because I thought it was a great movie but the demographic appeal seems limited.

  6. Sun-Taken-By-Trees on

This might have done well if it had released in like 2005-2012, when SNL still had some relevant/well known cast members and could capture a younger demo.  Would have also been closer to this “heyday” period depicted in the film.  I don’t know anyone under the age of 35 who watches SNL anymore and I personally could not, gun to my head, name a single current cast member.

  7. Man that’s disappointing, maybe I’ll have to watch after seeing it at TIFF. I thought it was really good but the audience was also super into it which might’ve helped

Please if you are thinking about watching this do it, it is a genuinely good/fun movie especially if your at all a fan of SNL/that era

  8. Saw it last night. It was pretty great. Shame that apparently I was the only one to learn this.
