    TLDR:

    * In an interview with [*Variety*](https://variety.com/2024/global/features/emmanuel-macron-interview-taylor-swift-emily-in-paris-1236172915/) published on Wednesday, Oct. 9, Macron shared his response to Emily ([Lily Collins](https://people.com/tag/lily-collins/)) [leaving Paris to head off to Rome in part 2 of season 4](https://people.com/emily-in-paris-season-4-part-2-first-look-photos-8701000) of the hit Netflix series [*Emily in Paris*](https://people.com/emily-in-paris-trailer-season-4-8681087).
    * “We will fight hard. And we will ask them to remain in Paris! *Emily in Paris* in Rome doesn‘t make sense,” said Macron about Rome becoming a setting for the show’s upcoming fifth season.
    * “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome. It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome,” creator [Darren Star](https://people.com/darren-star-recalls-network-backlash-for-an-episode-of-beverly-hills-90210-8695525) previously told Netflix’s [*Tudum*](https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/emily-in-paris-season-5-cast-release-date-news) in a statement. However, having Rome *and* Paris be a character in the show doesn’t sit well with both political leaders.
