Literally the same opening as Saw X, outgrossed Terrifier 2’s entire run, and has made nine times its $2M budget. Amazing for an unrated indie horror film.

I pretty much wonder how the international run for this will be. Slashers ain’t that popular outside of the US but T2 made $5m despite a limited run and not being released in that many countries. The killer clown aspect might make it more attractive for casual audiences.

Going from a micro-budget splatter film with a tiny distributor to Party City commercials. Seeing phenomenon like this franchise happen in real time is why I track the box office.

Opening to $18.26MM and at #1 is total insanity in the best way. Terrifier 3 was released unrated (like Terrifier 2) and had a reported budget of only $2MM. The movie is already in the black and anything earned after its opening day is pure profit.
Horror movies are being released unrated now. The Terrifier movies made that happen. I’m looking forward to seeing what that leads to in the months/years to come. We’ll for sure be getting another unrated Terrifier movie, and In a Violent Nature – released earlier this year in unrated form – has a planned sequel as well.

I need to say again how impressive this is. Because is not a Blumhouse kind of thing were the movie was cheap but they spend a shit ton of money on marketing. This is a movie that is extremely cheap to produce ($2M) and to market ($1M) and by a distributor who never released a movie in theaters before.
