I don’t think it counts as competing really but aside from the rumored feud between Winona Ryder and Gwyneth Paltrow over the script for “Shakespeare in Love” , the role was originally offered to Kate Winslet who rejected it and eventually Julia Roberts got it but only for a short time .

i bet christian bale and leo dicaprio compete a lot. they’re in the same league tho personally i think bale is miles above dicaprio. back in the day robert de niro and al pacino competed so much too, though of course they costarred too.

Stone and Lawrence competed for roles when they were starting, but not now. At this point of their careers they don’t audition and a lot of time they also produce their own things.

I’m convinced **Gal Gadot and Blake Lively** compete for the same roles considering they’re both known for being pretty but not the best actresses
I also think **Saoirse Ronan and Florence Pugh** compete for the same roles as they’re known for being young, talented and being able to carry more serious roles, though Saoirse is definitely more established
**Zendaya** probably doesn’t compete for roles but I’m sure people certainly compete for her to be involved in their projects across acting and fashion
Lastly, **Lily Collins and Nina Dobrev** probably compete for similar roles and **Nicola Peltz** wishes she was in that same bucket

Kathryn Newton and Kiernan Shipka, Zoey Deutch and Lucy Hale, and Kiersey Clemons and Amandla Stenberg have similar enough filmographies that I could see them going for a lot of the same roles.

Maybe this is too general but I assume Hollywood is extremely competitive. So I think once you’re of similar race, reputation and age you’re automatically competing. So someone like Emma stone is offered a role but that doesn’t mean Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t considered first.

Some other pairs that are probably up for a lot same stuff a lot/gets parts the other turns down are Michelle Williams/Carey Mulligan, Amy Adams/Jessica Chastain, Sandra Bullock/Julia Roberts and Will Smith/Jamie Foxx

Maybe Tom Holland and Timothee Chalamet at the beginning of their careers. I think Chalamet was almost spider-man.

I remember the “competition” for The Lady with the Dragon Tattoo(?) and how a lot of actresses wanted that part. I remember Emma Watson cut her hair for it, to show she was commited. Rumors, but the instance I remember the most for public bet for a role.
