– ThatWaluigiDude (Now Cinepolis have joined the party and from today to june 5th will also be offering discounted tickets. Now two big chains in Brazil will be cheaper. Difference is, with Cinepolis the promotion will work during the weekend and on premium screens, and some select theaters will go even cheaper with tickets priced at R$8 (May 31). Cinemark will be holding a discount, starting on the 27th, where tickets go down to R$12 and food combos go down in price too. Cinemark is currently the biggest chain in Brazil, though is not in every single city, obviously. It will go all the way until june 19th, excluding only fridays, saturdays and sundays and the next holiday on the 30th. It’s a bit shocking because that means the release day of all movies for 4 weeks will be discounted on Cinemark, including possible previews of Inside Out 2 (May 27).)
– ThatWaluigiDude (Despicable Me 4 have been gained some steam on the pre-sales, now around 1/3 of what Garfield had its final day. It will be very interesting to see how IO2 and DM4 will behave competing with each other **(June 27)**. By the way, Despicable Me 4 started the pre-sales a couple of days ago. So far is a bit bellow Garfield on the same period, surprisingly slow but most likely the release of Inside Out 2 distracted. I haven’t seen the pre-release being advertized much **(June 21)**.)

– (Inside Out 2 is supposedly releasing on August 1st in Japan. That’s a Thursday. They may be they doing that to take advantage of discounted tickets that happen on the first of the month. I think ¥5B is stressful. ¥4B is reasonable and ¥3B~¥3.5B likely Looking Competition – Inside Out opens 1 week ahead of Shin Chan — straight direct competition for screens against My Hero Academia 4 (Last Movie did ¥3.39B) **(June 19)**.)

– Carlangonz (Theaters setting up their programs for this weekend. In most of them is a mix of IO2-DM4-AQP throughout the day with some shows of Bad Boys. Maxxxine is opening in selected locations (probably will be around 500 or so) but only night shows. TBC but Cinemex has Deadpool & Wolverine listed as a Rated-C; is a bit suspicious considering prior Deadpool entries were B-15. However Logan was indeed Rated-C which definitely meant a huge blow for it and would be the same too for this one. Cinépolis hasn’t listed any rating so we’ll see on Thursday morning **(July 2)**.)
– Carlangonz (Despicable Me 4: $1.91M USD opening day comp. Added Spiderverse ($0.75M USD) just because OD will be very similar and it’ll be interesting how close to each other they end up on T-1 Day. Great weekend! Quite close to Inside Out 2 but expecting final two days to be stronger than Pixar’s pic. One important thing I do notice is how weaker this is in premium formats such as IMAX and 4DX; likely will get a lower ATP considering this and also the fact that is a franchise that draws less adults compared to those of Pixar. Is aiming for $13.69M USD and a weekend as high as $16.42M USD. Is definitely immune to any fatigue **(July 1)**. Bit of a timid increase compared to comps but still within their range. This doesn’t have the same effect on adults as Disney/Pixar titles so perhaps won’t ramp up until the final two days. Let’s see on Monday if the weekend gives it any boost **(June 29)**. Very promising at the moment. Should at least open on par with both Minions and above Despicable Me 3 set for a potential $16.20M USD start and the best of the franchise. Important to notice seats available as of this moment is a higher tally than that of Inside Out 2 so Universal may be preparing Illumination for their first 5,000+ screens start as Mario and previous Gru installments opened to *just* 4k-4.5k. However, taking such number of screens will directly impact negatively on Inside Out 2 and remaining holdovers would be basically wiped out. Maxxxine is opening on July 4th too but not expecting it to go wide **(June 26)**.)

– thajdikt (Deadpool and Wolverine has just started ticket sales and it´s getting a lot of screens. More than Doctor Strange did intially and on par with NWH. It´s also running from 10AM to 22PM in the IMAX which is quite unusual for them to set up unless the demand forces them. They are expecting a monster here. I´m not so sure. Let´s see how sales are **(June 17)**.)
