Day 51: Nevada

Day 50: California winner is Pulp Fiction, and that got my upvote as well. There are so so many good movies that represent subcultures of California. Such has been true for a few states, but none more than California. But alas, we are picking a governor, not a mayor. There Will be Blood, Heat, T2, Speed, Chinatown, Roger Rabbit, and so many more got in the mix. I am fond of Mid 90s.

Today is the final state, Nevada. I wanted to end with this because a favorite movie of mine is here and even though it might be odd, Nevada has a spread. Casinos, desert, and history. Sometimes all three.

I really appreciate the people that have followed along. A few of you hit all 50 days (don’t break your streak today!)

Thanks for following along everybody.

Remember it’s the movie comment with the most upvotes, so check if yours is mentioned. Also, where the movie is set, not filmed. I’m going in a random order!

  1. For me it’s not even a close one, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Infinitely rewatchable, and so unparceable on your first go that you will need to rewatch it to understand what the hell is going on. And a movie that once you hear was directed by Terry Gilliam, it makes total sense.

  2. Showgirls

I know it’s not going to win but I will die on the hill that it’s Paul Verhoeven’s true magnum opus and it stands unmatched as a monument to being shamelessly horny, greedy, and flamboyant. If that’s not Vegas, I don’t know what is

  3. Also shout out to OP for putting this together and sticking with it for the last several months. This has been a good series

  4. I am going to go with an outlier for the last one, while there are some great movies one that is key Nevada for me is **Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)**

  5. Leaving Las Vegas.
Fantastic film that made me not touch alcohol for nearly a month, won Cage an Oscar, and captivating

  6. I was gonna say Godfather II, but then saw someone mention Tremors and that’s easily my vote now.

  7. Check your comment sorting on the California thread, OP. Big Lebowski has 30 more points than Pulp Fiction right now. Sort by ‘Top.’

    Sister Act

Don’t think it’ll win…bust still wanted to toss another one in the ring 🙂
