  1. Does this movie really need to be split into two parts? The trailer for Wicked Part One seems to show all the major plot points of the story, and now it’s going to be same length as the entire play??

  2. *Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1* had a run time of 2 hours and 26 minutes.

    This feels somewhat excessive.

  3. ItsAlmostShowtime on

Even with a PG rating and Wizard of Oz IP an almost 3 hour runtime will make families with young kids just wait for Moana 2

  4. I haven’t seen the musical, but this feels like it could hurt it boxoffice wise. Yes movies with long runtimes have worked, but those movies are normally not PG movies, which are normally targeted at Families. But maybe I’m not getting the exact audience they are aiming for.

  5. I’ve been using Live-Action Disney remakes like Maleficent and Cinderella and the little mermaid as comps but they don’t have this long as a runtime.

  6. NotTaken-username on

That runtime would’ve made sense if it was the whole musical. I was expecting it to be closer to 90-105 minutes since it’s only the first half

  7. Competitive-Gold on

To add on, Venom 3 is 1 hr and 50 mins based on fandango which is close to the 1st movie runtime

How can part 1 be longer than the original play? Did they really alter the story that much?

  9. The stage show is 2 hours and 45 minutes WITH INTERMISSION and this movie only covers act one.

    Pure insanity. Make movies shorter.

  10. Key-Payment2553 on

The full musical of Wicked runtime is 2 hours and 45 minutes including a 15 minute intermission

Act 1 of Wicked is 1 hour and 30 minutes while Act 2 of Wicked is 1 hour and 15 minutes including intermission

Wonder if Part One of the Wicked Movie adds more scenes from Act 1 while Part Two of the Wicked Movie next year might also add more scenes from Act 2

  11. I mean the broadway show is that long, or shorter, with an intermission. How badly did they adapt this, and why did no one stop them?

  12. Hope it’s just a type because according to the Australian Government classification, it’s 142 minutes.
