  1. It’s already on my watchlist, but I just did O-Bi, O-Ba: The End of Civilization (1985) and Threads (1984) back to back a few weeks ago and that was enough apocalypse depression for a short stint.

  2. Threads (1984) is an even more terrifying depiction of nuclear war, showing the effects many years into the future.

i know compared to bbc threads this is the weaker film, but it still makes me feel depressed but what does cheer me up is remembering the vh1 i love the 80’s(strikes back) making jokes about this film and it makes me feel better.Threads though nothing can make me happy for a whiel after watching that again

I was 13 when this came out when all the talk was about nuke war between US and USSR. Scared the crap out of me. Still pops into my head from time to time. I really didn’t think I’d ever get to drive a car.

I’ve since heard of Threads but I’m not sure I have the guts to watch it.

  5. This movie was so hyped it was unbelievable, but the quiet little nuclear war movie Testament which came out the same year, was far more compelling.

  6. Threads must be streaming now or something because a lot of new people are appreciating it.

Another one I remember from that era is “Special Bulletin,” a simulated news broadcast of a nuclear attack on a U.S. port.
