Side eyeing some of these, but she better go home with something.

We might like her or not but we can’t deny how incredibly consistent she is when it comes to branding. Most artists can’t achieve this level of consistency.

Brat is album of the year based on cultural impact but to me Hit Me Hard and Soft is album of the year sonically. I’m prepared for the typical Recording Academy fuckery though if the checks bounce.

I love the 360 video, but justice for Von Dutch

360 for song of the year is the equivalent of applying to harvard with a 2.5 gpa

Apple was a cultural phenomenon this summer. It deserves better

Having dived in wholeheartedly to pop music and pop culture this year for the first time in a long time, hers is a name I’ve been hearing a lot. I enjoyed that Guess tune, and back in the day I appreciated that I Love It tune – so, having enjoyed all the other popular artists of the moment, I stuck on Brat.
Boyyyyyy is it annoying and average. How is this album a whole thing? Why are we having a brat summer? What an unbelievably uninspiring and desperately average collection of songs. I wanted an album of anthems that I’d return to again and again, but I made it just over half way through before switching to something else.
Not one catchy tune. How has this captured the zeitgeist? It sounds like the music the overly confident girl you met at a party who offered you ket would play through her phone after she kept telling you how great what she’s working on is. It’s not great.

I hope she gets a Grammy because I think it’s very well-deserved. I don’t really listen to a lot of pop music and brat got me out of my 60s and 80s music playlists for a while. It’s been a while since I’ve heard an album that I just really want to dance to. It’s fun, catchy, the lyrics are sassy and/or vulnerable and Charli’s personality shines through each song!
I’m still rooting for Eminem’s comeback album to win album of the year but would be very happy to see brat win as well.
