Ridley seems to think he has a very good footprint for Gladiator 3. But would the release of this film depend on Gladiator 2 performance (like with furiosa seemingly affecting future mad max sequel) or do you guys think Paramount would just go ahead for the art and prestige of having these movies under their banner.
Also can it affect the budget they will allot for further installments rather than cancelling.

Putting the cart before the horse there.
If it’s a success then Paramount will definitely go for a sequel. If it’s a flop or massive bomb then that’s not happening. Never would’ve thought Gladiator of all films would’ve been franchised, but that’s Hollywood now.
Ridley Scott can write what he likes, but if Gladiator 2 flops, then there won’t be a Gladiator 3 any time soon.
Paramount isn’t in a financial position to be throwing away 9 figure sums for the art and prestige of it.
If it succeeds, which could be challenging with the budget it reportedly has, then they’ll do the obvious Hollywood thing and make another.
We’re in for a bad year folks. Joker flopped. Gladiator 2 probably will flop. Wicked will flop. The animated movies will make money.
Ridley Scott writes scripts like crazy. It doesn’t mean they are good.
Gladiator 2 will have to earn like 700 million to break even.
If it does earn that much, then we’ll probably see a sequel cuz it means the demand is there… 500+ million is a relatively good gross (just not for a film that cost 310 million).
Absolutely, but since is Paramount, as long as it does the bare minimum at the box office they will push for a sequel.
I’m getting *Mad Max: The Wasteland* flashbacks.
Ridley Scott is banking on Paramount being too shy to tell him no
Honestly, I liked the trailer, but I still fear the movie won’t be good in the end.
If he really wanted it to happen, then he should have done this as a 2-parter, filming back to back, that would have justified the budget.
Gladiator 2 is not going to have enough success. Gladiator 3 will not be greenlit. Just my guess.
I would love for Gladiator 3 to be in a far away future, but one in which the events of the first Gladiator are still resonate.
I think if it gets at least respectably close to break even it’ll get greenlit
