David Gordon Green’s The Exorcist: Believer was released 1 year ago this week. With a $65.5M domestic total and $136.2M worldwide, the film’s critical failure led to the planned trilogy getting scrapped and will instead have another reboot directed by Mike Flanagan in March 2026.

I don’t want to be around when that happens. But if there’s a spirit world, and I can come back, I plan to possess David Gordon Green and make his life a living hell.”

I’m glad Blumhouse hired Mike Flanagan instead of continuing with the trilogy. Having seen Doctor Sleep, I trust that man with any horror IP or adaptation that he wants to make.

honestly that sucks, its a decent film and really wanted to see it continue just for closure over the ending

I remember seeing more promotion for this at Universal with Halloween Horror Nights than outside

  5. Its box office performance would normally be considered a success ($136 million on a $30 million production budget) but they spent an absurd $400 million to get the rights.
