Paramount: I want it on PVOD within the next 30 days.
Intern: B-But it set a franchise opening weekend record, it’s summer, and there’s no other horror movies playing. Don’t you think we should let it run a bit?
Paramount: IT OPENED UNDER $100M. NOT ENOUGH MONEY PUT IT ON PVOD!

Paramount isn’t wasting any time.

They really shouldn’t announce PVOD dates so soon after opening weekend.

“We may be bleeding money but see, we have hits on streaming! Somebody buy us already!”
Looks like it’s going to PVOD instead of a streaming service. That doesn’t hurt the final gross as badly as going to Netflix or Max.
The people renting the movie for $30 after a month were likely not going to the theater anyway.

WTF!!???
This is the inverse news you’d expect. Where you’d think they’d double down on this universe with a 2026 release date for *A Quiet Place: Part III*, these geniuses put up a 1-month-out streaming date for the film with the best opening weekend in the franchise before box office actuals are even released.

You’ve just had a $55m OW and you’re already rushing it out onto PVOD? Baffling.

But when will it start streaming?

I guess I’ll hold off on going now.

This is precisely what is destroying theaters and the movie business; this is disgusting. What studio hates theaters the most?

Mean Girls had 14 days between its PVOD and Paramount + release dates and Bob Marley had 24 days so if this date is accurate you’re probably looking at somewhere in the August 12-23 range for it to hit Paramount+.

That’s a mistake

Studios need to put 2 and 2 together and realize that this hurts the box office for the movie.
